Literature (for next Wednesday)
- Read Chapters 6-8 in Crystal City Lights.
- As you read, keep in mind these essay topics for later on: 1) Compare/contrast Crystal City Lights with another book. 2) What does it mean for us to have "freedom of speech"? Why is freedom of speech so important? 3) In the book, it was mentioned that people are afraid of things they do not understand. Do you think this is true? If so, write about this as a human trait, giving examples from the real world, books, media, etc. 4) What do you think about the United States' use of internment camps during World War II (persuasive essay- opinions are fine!)
- Complete the Reading Comprehension sheet
- These chapters talk about censorship. Complete the sheet "Swiss Cheese Letters" and bring it to class.
