  • We're going to go ahead and start reading A Cord of Three Strands.  I know Carris & Clark don't have their books yet... but I am going to post pictures if the pages.  
  • Look at the chapter titles.  Why do you think some of the names are strange to us?
  • Check out the map after the table of contents.  Look at the map key and talk about it.
  • Here is a Quizlet link for these chapters.  Look through it and see if there are any tricky words.  You guys can share your screen and go over them together if you want.
  • Read pages 11-20 out loud to each other.  Instead of reading comprehension questions, we are going to have journal entries for this book.  Choose one from chapters 1 or 2 to write about today.

    • 1- Write about what you learned from Esperanza Rising.  This could be about Mexican culture, about the Great Depression, about migrant workers.... just whatever you learned from the book that you didn't know before
    • 2- Write about your favorite character from the book.  Why is he/she your favorite character? 
    • 3. What do you think the main lesson to learn from the book would be?  (There is not single right answer!)  Explain why you think this is the lesson that was taught.
  • Olive and Carris - 
    • Start coming up with ideas for your essay.  What topic do you want to use?  Can you come up with some main ideas that could be the base for your body paragraphs?  Talk about it together and help each other.  We will work on it when I get back, but you might be able to get a lot done together!
