Things for in class Monday. 8/23

 Announcements 

We'll be off Labor Day, Sept 6th
Fall Break -- Oct 11 & 12
Thanksgiving Break - Nov 22-26
Last Day of 1st Semester - Dec 20th
Back to school - Jan 3rd
MLK - Jan 17th
Winter Break - Feb 14-18
Spring Break - April 4 - 8
Last Day - Maybe May 18th? 
 
If you see a * beside an assignment, it means that after you finish it, we'll check it in class! 
 
Be sure you feed and water all of the animals and remember to turn off the water!
(Don't forget the horses and hogs!)

Grammar

    • Complete lesson 1, but skip the "review set". *
    • Complete all of lesson 2 * 

  • Clark - 
    • Complete the sheet "Is it a Noun?" (you'll need a glue stick and scissors!)
    • Complete the sheet "Dude, Can You Help Me Find All of the Nouns?" 
    • We're going to learn spelling list 1 this week!
      • Say each word and spell it out loud.
      • Do the super short lessons 1 & 2 today in your book.


Literature & Writing (for everyone!)

  • None!  We will begin literature & writing on August 30th. 


Science (for Olive, Clark, & Carris)

  • None!  We will begin science on September 8th


Other (for everyone!)

  • Our first literature book is about the Lewis and Clark expedition.  This week, we are going to get a super-quick recap of early U.S. history.... using Schoolhouse Rock!
    • While you are watching, see if you can explain what "taxation without representation" means.
    • What were the first 13 colonies? Fill in the names of the states in order of when they were settled.  All of the answers are on the sheet!  Put this in your notebook when you finish.
    • The second video on the Preamble actually SINGS the beginning of our constitution.  It starts at the 1:00 mark.  See if you can work on memorizing it!  You can write it down if that helps, but you don't have to.
