 Literature

  • Clark - Read your Star Wars book!  I'd love for you to read at least 2 more chapters!

    4/20 Assignments

    Today, you EARN your chill afternoon of fun by working during school time!  No arguing, no fussing, no noodling.   If you work hard and get things done, you'll get to enjoy the end of the day having FUN!   

    ANY EXTRA TIME SHOULD BE SPENT WORKING ON SOMETHING, READING, PLAYING EDUCATIONAL GAMES, ETC (ON YOUR OWN)


    8:30-9:30 Math-

    • Clark - Teaching Textbooks lesson OR prodigy
    • Carris - Worksheet and Multiplication practice


    9:30-10:30 Chores & Break

    10:30- 11:15
    Girls - Wordly Wise
    • Complete 17D (17E is assigned for tomorrow, but you can try to get it done, too!)

    12:00-12:45 
    Carris and Clark - Work on creating 2 slides on the Nemo information you've learned.  This needs to be done on your own.  Ask for help only if you need help with making the slides or formatting things.

    Olive - MUSIC

    12:45-1:15 Literature

    • Clark- Read your Star Wars book.  If you finish, write a paragraph telling us about the book.  What was it about?  Did you like it?  Do you think other kids would like to read it?  Tell us!  (No help on this.... YOU do it!)
    • GIRLS - Read chapters 9-11 in The Watsons Go to Birmingham.
    • Complete the page on Figurative Language on a separate sheet of paper.
    1:15-1:45 - Grab all empty bags and trash from shipping containers and stuff them into the trash cans!  Once that’s done— free time!!

    • Read chapters 5-8 in The Watson's Go to Birmingham
    • Clark, read your Star Wars book!  I can't wait to see how far you were able to get!
    • Watch this video and this video.
    • Then, complete this page.
      • (Since I messed up and posted the assignment late, just save the reading comprehension page for class on Monday!)

    • Don't worry about trying to work on slides at home.  We can do it together!

     Math- 

    • Clark - Next lesson (can also do the multiplication practice I left for Carris!  
    • Ivey and Olive - Lesson 15
    • Carris -  Click here to work on multiplication.  Choose the number of problems on the left.  I would do 25 at a time.  Then, you can choose under "math factor" on the right to make them random or to practice number by number.  I would work on multiplication facts for 4-7.

    Literature
    • Your essay is finished!  Be sure you have read through the first 4 chapters of your book.  We'll talk about it tomorrow!

    Unit Study
    • You've been working on your Nemo Unit study.  Do any extra research today that you need/want to do!  Tomorrow, we will be working on finishing our packets and making our slide presentation.  

    Wordly Wise
    • Girls - Read through the list and complete 7A & 7B 
    • Clark - As you read through information for the Finding Nemo unit study, just write down any words you didn't know that you think would be good for our vocabulary list!

    • Watch the next 30-40 minutes of Finding Nemo
    • Keep working through the information in your packets.  
    • Use the books AND the resources on Google Classroom's science class!
    • Instead of Wordly Wise this week, I want you to make a list of ALL NEW WORDS that you learn as you work through this unit study.  Write them on a sheet of paper and we will put them in the back of the packet.  Add and define new words as you go!

    Sing the 7s song

    Grammar
    • Do the grammar sort.  Drag different parts of speech (nouns, verbs, adjectives, and adverbs).  After you have sorted, add a label to the bucket.  Then, once you are done, click on the bucket, click SUBMIT BUCKET to check them.
    • Click on this site.  Scroll down to where it says "Similar Games" and choose the one (or more than one) that you feel that you need the most practice with!

    Spelling
    • Work on whichever list you are on!
    Music
    • Ivey and Olive practice!

    Literature  (for next Wednesday) 
    • Read the rest of Crystal City Lights 
    • Clark- just read and enjoy the book... don't worry about the questions.  I would love it if you clicked here to watch the BrainPop video on World War II though!
    • Girls-
      • Answer the reading comprehension questions for the chapters
      • After you finish reading, work on a rough draft of your essay!
      • Topics: 
        • 1) Compare/contrast Crystal City Lights with another book.  
        • 2)  What does it mean for us to have "freedom of speech"?  Why is freedom of speech so important?  
        • 3)  In the book, it was mentioned that people are afraid of things they do not understand.  Do you think this is true?  If so, write about this as a human trait, giving examples from the real world, books, media, etc.  
        • 4)  What do you think about the United States' use of internment camps during World War II (persuasive essay- opinions are fine!)

    • Review lesson 16 and take the test :-)
